With that out of the way, welcome to Volume II: Reincarnation.
This year is all about breathing new life into songs that I love. I chose this theme because I’m heavy into writing a bunch of new material for the first time in years, and I don’t want to risk burnout again by overdoing it with originals. Plus…I love making covers. It’s how I started and really learned how produce my own music.
The icon and earworm that is Pretty Rave Girl is the foundation here (with a bonus middle eight borrowed from another icon), but I’m super into dudes, so now it’s Pretty Rave Boy.
The real big news is this is my first foray into Techno, and it’s not perfect, but it turned out TUFF for a first timer I think. I initially wanted a full fledged, non-stop, Techno track but it didn’t feel right so I blended it with bouncy generic EDM/Eurodance/Dance-Pop verses and an internet music inspired middle eight. Overall I’d say it’s got that “old school” or “classic” sound, which I guess is at the core of the HVXLII sound these days.
And yeah…that’s about it. Honestly, these explainer bits will probably be pretty short this year, but that’s ok. The Meditations of TEMPLE were always meant to be more about the music than the words around them.
