Hej, hi, hello!
Quick announcement before I dive in this week, but if you’re on Cosmos (a pinterest alternative) I’ve created a cluster that will contain most the photos from this first volume of TEMPLE, and it’s something I’ll continue to do for future volumes as well.
Now….on to the music.

Ok, this one was fun and it was one of the rare instances where I knew exactly where I was going the moment I saw the photo. Historically speaking, I have no idea if there was any form throat singing in Icelandic culture at any point — but thankfully we’re not going for historical, we’re going for vibes.
Throat singing is one of my favorite things the human voice can do I will absolutely use it any chance I get (my track Infinity is a great example) and this was an opportunity to run with it. So what you’re hearing here is Tuvan throat singing - and to get more specific it’s mostly kargyraa.
Going on underneath all of that is a good ‘ol frame drum forming the base of the driving feeling this one has which is reinforced by a pulsing bed of processed strings and synth bass-y goodness. There’s also the usual cinematic suspects of big braaams, LFE hits, some bells, and a didgeridoo (because why not).
Ultimately this one came together really quick and is one the few examples I can think of where I managed to land exactly on the target of what I was hearing in my head.
Until next time, friends!
Stay happy. Stay puppin’. Stay waggin’.
